WHAT TO EXPECT

Athletes can participate with or without access to a gym, depending on the competition they select:

  • EQUIPMENT: HYROX Men/Women
  • BODYWEIGHT: HYROX Men/Women

Depending on this selection, the athlete will continue the competition in the affiliated ranking. The top 4 athletes from the EQUIPMENT competition will qualify for the live Grand Final on July 26, 2020 where we can all watch the HYROX Men | HYROX Women battle it out to see who will be crowned the HYROX Virtual Champion of Fitness!

HOW DOES THE POINT SCORING WORK

Points are awarded for each workout and are based on the athlete's performance. Best placed athletes will earn the most points, second best will earn second most points etc. The Virtual Champion of Fitness in each Age Group is the athlete with most points after the 5 workouts!

WHICH COMPETITION IS FOR ME?

EQUIPMENT

This competition will include bodyweight movements as well as movements with weights, rowing, and running. In true HYROX-fashion the weighted exercises will be based on human movement patterns. Workouts will last approximately 15-30 Minutes depending on the athletes level of fitness. The equipment competition is suitable for intermediate to elite fitness level.

What you’ll need: 

  • Ability to film your workout
  • 2x Dumbbells
  • 1x Wall Ball
  • 1x Rower 
  • Running Track (400m)* or treadmill

*This must be a standardized track and field running track. Running will not be combined with rowing, however running workouts will include dumbbells and/or wall ball.

Weights:

  • HYROX MEN 2x Dumbbells 15 kg (35 lbs) / 1x Wall Ball 9 kg (20 lbs) 
  • HYROX WOMEN: 2x Dumbbells 10 kg (20lbs) / 1x Wall Ball 6 kg (14 lbs)


BODYWEIGHT

This competition will include only BODYWEIGHT movements. Workouts will last approximately 15-30 Minutes depending on the athletes level of fitness. The BODYWEIGHT competition is suitable for all levels of fitness and equals the HYROX OPEN Category at the events.

  • A mat or any kind of equal space to film your workout. 

 

FAQS

  • Yes, every participant who is competing for prize money and/or a spot at the World Championships 20/21 is required to a submit video for review. Upon score submission, there will be a field where the athlete can upload the link to the video. We suggest WODProof or similar apps/services that provide links. Or you can use YouTube or Google Drive.

  • BODYWEIGHT

    This competition will include bodyweight movements only, and all you will need to compete is a mat or any kind of equal space.  Workouts will last approximately 15-30 Minutes depending on the athletes level of fitness.

    EQUIPMENT

    This competition will include bodyweight movements as well as movements with weights, and running. In HYROX-fashion the movements with weights won’t require much skill and will be based on human movement patterns. Workouts will last approximately 15-30 Minutes depending on the athletes level of fitness. The equipment competition is suitable for all levels of fitness but should especially be chosen by intermediate to elite fitness level athletes.

    Equipment is required for the Equipment competition, a list of everything you will need will can be found below and in the rulebook:

    • 2x Dumbbells

  • Yes, you can compete in both competitions, however you will need to create two accounts on the Throw Downs website. You will need to use a different email address for each account. If you need any assistance with this please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service team via email vcf@hyrox.com.

  • Yes you can compete in as many #HYROXLeagues  as you like. Simply enter the names of the leagues that you and your family/friends/colleagues have agreed on during your registration. Make sure you use a # at the front of your team name. For example: #TEAMHYROX. Be sure that you all use exactly the same #. Click here for more information about our #HYROXLeague option.

  • Yes, we will give away prize money for the best overall athletes in the EQUIPMENT Competition.

  • No. If you are an experienced athlete we would recommend that you participate in the EQUIPMENT competition. You will have the chance to compete live on July 26 2020 in the Virtual Championship of Fitness Grand Final, where the top 4 HYROX Men | HYROX Women will battle it out to see who will be crowned the Virtual World Champion of Fitness.

  • All athletes are required to upload a video of themselves doing each workout along with their score submission. Our judges will review these workouts.
