Assistant Race Director On-boarding Mini Series

Welcome to this mini-series that is designed to guide you through each step of becoming a certified HYROX Race Director.

Across these five short tutorials, you’ll learn about your role and responsibilities, from the build phase to race day operations, managing timing and penalties, and finally, the assessment process.

By the end, you’ll be clear about the journey you are starting that will result in you leading the Sports Teams at HYROX races around the world.

Let’s dive in and start your journey to becoming an integral part of the HYROX team.

#1 Welcome Aboard

In this first tutorial, you’ll get an overview of the Race Director journey, including your key responsibilities, the components of training across five races, and the essential skills you’ll develop to lead a HYROX Sports Team successfully.

#2 The Build Phase

In this second tutorial, you’ll learn about the Build Phase Processes, where you’ll oversee the setup of the race course, manage key adjustments to ensure the course is accurate, and coordinate with teams to deliver a safe, well-organised, and professional-looking event in line with the HYROX Sports Team Standard Operating Procedures.

#3 Race Day

In this third tutorial, you’ll get a detailed look at race day operations, including your role as Race Director in overseeing the course, managing the Sports Team, ensuring smooth timing and transitions, and handling any issues or emergencies that arise to deliver a successful and seamless event.

#4 Timing Team

In this fourth tutorial, you’ll learn the essentials of managing timing, tracking data points, and handling penalties to ensure a fair and smooth event; as Race Director, you’ll oversee accurate timing, resolve timing or penalty disputes, and make final decisions that maintain the integrity of the competition.

#5 Your Assessment

In this fifth and final tutorial, you’ll learn what to expect during your Assessment Race and written exam, where you’ll demonstrate your knowledge, leadership, and practical skills to become a certified HYROX Race Director—requiring an 80% pass on both to achieve certification.
